Disney’s Racist References.. Hard Rock Cafe.. Santa Monica Beach.

Hey! If this is your first time coming across this, this is my travel blog where I speak on places I’ve gone to and things I’ve learnt in the week of being abroad. Enjoy (: - K.W California, Los Angeles   Wednesday 6th November  - The first place I’m gonna recommend for you guys to go is  Hard Rock Cafe  on  Hollywood Boulevard ! Hard Rock Cafe is a very popular restaurant and has branches all over the world. TRY THE  STEAK SALAD . Guys when I tell you it was amazingggg!! I don’t usually get salads when I go out to eat mainly because I don’t really trust people’s ability to season properly lol especially a salad! I always ask for recommendations when it’s my first time going somewhere ( really helps when you’re indecisive like me ). I asked the first staff I came across, they were young and black so honestly I trusted their judgment lol and was convinced to go for the salad and thank God I did!! The flavours, worked perfectly together from the steak to the sauce to the diff

Is The Term ‘People of Colour’ A Thing?

Hey!!! Welcome to my travel journal, or travel blog, or whatever you wanna call it. I decided to do something different on my blog site and document my experiences abroad. I’m gonna be telling you guys about different things that I’ve learnt, places I’ve been to, food to try out etc in which I think would be a cool places to go & things try out if you travel to that specific country! California, Los Angeles    Friday the 31st of October 2019  - I was chilling with my friend and we were speaking about many different things. He’s Latino. Half Mexican & half Salvadorean and tbh (to be honest) before I moved to Cali I had never even heard of Salvador before! Me being nosey & interested in finding out things I don’t know, he begins to enlighten me about his culture and colonisation of the now Mexico.  We spoke about colorism within the Latino community, him being a ‘light skin Mexican‘ he feels pushed out by the Mexican community because he’s not ‘brown enough’ ( funnily enou

Don’t Be A Slave To Social Media.

'It's better to be realistic and come out of the virtual world. The moment you do this. You will come to acknowledge the worthy connections of your life’ - Aayush Verma I was reading the blog I wrote last year about social media not being real life and I was there scrolling through thinking damn, factsss 😂 . So it’s only right I do an updated version and drop a few gems for you lot. My title pretty much says it all. Don’t.be.a.slave.to.social.media. PLEASE don’t do it. Social media should not be able to dictate your life, your decisions and who YOU are but sadly for majority of people this is the case and it shows. Social media is an infectious disease that controls the mind. If you participate in at least 1 of the 4 points below then you know social media is pulling your strings. How to know when you’re a slave to social media? -   Living life for social media - People literally feel the need to post every single detail of their life, I'll go on snap and

‘Amma Asante is a Phenomenal Storyteller...’

Where Hands Touch  Remarkable. Insightful. Emotional 3 words that I choose to describe this amazing movie. Where Hands Touch is a historical Drama/Romance, that tells the life of an Afro European, biracial girl called Leyna (Amandla Stenberg). Who is daughter to a French, Senegalese father and German mother, Kerstin (Abbie Cornish). Like other black Germans in the period of Nazi Germany, even though they did not receive the same treatment as Jews, they were subject to a lot of oppression. The way to survive was to be sterilised and to have papers which Leyna had neither. Trying to stay lowkey, her family move to Berlin where she meets Lutz (George Mackay), who is a son of a Nazi Official( Christopher Eccleston) and they end up falling in love (I know right, yikes). Being set in the time of WW2, It forces us to see life from different perspectives, as do Amma Asante’s other movies. Honestly I don’t cry but I definitely teared up one too many times in that screening! Generalising

Happy New Year Guys! Here’s a quick blog to start of the New Year! I’m super excited for 2019 and what I’ve come to terms with is that you just gotta go for everythingg you want, like legit just do it. I’ve made a list of goals for this year and I’m very determined to complete every single goal. This year is a year of accomplishing everything you put your mind to and everything you want to achieve. When we procrastinate, when we spend time being scared of chasing dreams and trying new things the only person suffering from that is ourselves and why would we wanna deprive ourselves from living a better life. When you have a vision and goal of what you want to do you literally just have to get up and go for it, God doesn’t give us a vision for no reason and he didn’t put the spirit of fear in us either so what are we actually waiting for. Join the gym, get your drivers license, start that YouTube channel, start that hobby. The longer we wait the lazier we get with it. No ones going

Friendships And Personal Growth

‘ The journey is never ending. There’s always gonna be growth, improvement, adversity; you just gotta take it all in and do what’s right, continue to grow, continue to live in the moment ‘ - Antonio Brown Now that I’ve turned a new age, I decided to do a blog on growth and friendships! 365 days of personal development and realisation of things around me and I’m so grateful to where God has brought me to and from. What I’ve realised this year is that self reflection is a major key, i never really sat down to take a minute and just deep me as a person and certain things about myself and when I did, I started to grow a lot mentally and spiritually. It’s important to have self awareness because it’s the first step to personal growth, without it you can’t acknowledge certain characteristics and habits you have, there’s a big difference in someone telling you about yourself and you actually noticing it. The dictionary definition of self awareness is : conscious knowledge of one's ow

The Truth About Uni

'Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself ‘ - Gail Devers The end of the academic year is here now, this means the time has come where people have to  make a decision, whether to continue with education or stop. One thing people need to remember is that university is not for everyone, don’t ever let someone put you down or make you feel worthless because you decided you don’t want to attend. 1,180 people dropped out of uni in 2014 due to mental health issues. University can get very lonely, it’s relatively easy for your mental health to be affected , so it’s beneficial to ensure ur interacting with people. Also, get involved in things as you could fall into the habit of not branching out and keeping to yourself, despite you going to the same uni with a countless amount of people. Although, If this does happen to you, your university will assumedly have things in place in order to support and help you through it so make sure you take advantage of the
